Dental Implant Medicine
Here at Northland Dental Medicine, we provide many specialties for our patients, including dental implant medicine. This is a special area of dentistry that utilizes implant technology for replacing missing teeth. We provide dental implants to patients missing one or multiple teeth, as well as implant-supported dentures for more stability in their dentures.
There are many reasons to offer dental implants, aside from the aesthetic value. Some other benefits of dental implant medicine include:
- · Improving the patient’s oral health and quality of life.
- · Providing more confidence in the smile.
- · Preventing the teeth from shifting and causing alignment issues.
- · Reducing bone atrophy.
- · Improving the patient’s chewing abilities.
- · Allowing the patient’s bite to remain intact.
With dental implant medicine, we start by assessing the patient’s jawbone to ensure it is sufficient to support the implant. After the metal post is implanted into the bone, it takes 3-6 months to heal, where the bone grows around the implant. At this point, we prepare a crown to match their adjacent teeth, and place it on the top of the implant. They now have a tooth that looks, feels and functions just like a natural tooth.
Be sure to ask Dr. Michael Corsello about dental implant medicine by contacting our Pittsburgh, PA office.
