SimPlant

When you go in for a dental procedure, you like to know that you dentist is competent and skilled enough to know the outcome of any procedure. Many dentists claim that they are able to do this just based on past experience, but what if you have a different case, one that requires due diligence or even the ability to see into the future? At Northland Dental Medicine, we are utilizing SimPlant Surgical and Prosthetic Planning Program so we can know every detail of your anatomy in advance and eliminate any surprises that may come up.

SimPlant Surgical and Prosthetic Planning technology allows Dr. Corsello to view a three-dimensional image of your faces’ anatomy. With this three-dimensional imaging technology, Dr. Corsello can begin planning the ideal location for your implants, reach the best outcome and show you how your new teeth will look before you undergo any treatment. This imaging software shows us the width and density of your jawbone, the exact location of neighboring tooth roots and the location important anatomical structures such as nerve and vascular channels. All of this information is taken to help determine the ideal location for your dental implant. This technology completely negates the need for free-hand implant dentistry.

With this technology, Dr. Corsello is able to confidently place implants and restore teeth with precision and accuracy. He is also able to include you in on the planning and execution of your treatment plan. By allowing you to be involved, Dr. Corsello is giving his patients the opportunity to collaborate and determine what treatment option is best for them.

If you are considering a dental implant and you haven’t heard of this innovative technology, call 412-847-5002 today to set up an appointment with Dr. Michael Corsello.

Cone Beam 3-D Dental Imaging

Advanced technology is paving the way toward more effective dental procedures, including the use of the Cone Beam 3-D Dental Imaging. Here at Northland Dental Medicine, we use this technology to add to digital x-rays and provide better treatment planning and higher definition x-rays for our patients.

This innovative CT scanner is a multi-purpose machine that utilizes Cone Beam imaging to deliver quicker, more accurate images of your mouth. With the imaging machine, we can get three-dimensional images to look more closely at your teeth and provide you with a more accurate diagnosis.

The Cone Beam 3-D Dental Imaging Machine is used for everything, from diagnosis to treatment planning for restorations, including dental implants, crowns, and bridges. With this technology, we are able to view your whole mouth in three dimensions rather than printed on a sheet. This means we have more accurate treatment, more predictable treatment outcomes and it even reduces the length and cost of future treatments. Before this technology, we would not be able to see how badly a tooth has decayed before it is too late. Thanks to the Cone Beam 3-D imaging, we are catching and treating conditions in their infancy rather than allowing them to grow into a worse condition that could require invasive procedures.

To take advantage of this unique imaging software, set up an appointment with Dr. Michael Corsello by calling 412-847-5002!

Sedation Options

The idea of going to the dentist for a procedure brings on feelings of fear or anxiety in some people, but there are options to ease the anxiety. Between 5% and 8% of Americans avoid going to the dentist due to dental phobia.  At Northland Dental Medicine in Pittsburgh, PA, we are offering an extremely practical solution to rid you of your dental phobia through patient sedation. Our practice offers a safe environment of skilled staff members who are able to comfort patients through various sedation methods.

At Northland Dental Medicine, we sedate patients through intravenous (IV) and oral sedation. Neither of these methods will put you in an unconscious state, but you will be in a deep state of relaxation during your treatment.

We utilize IV sedation for patients that suffer from moderate to severe anxiety. The medication is administered through your blood stream and sets in very quickly. You will feel as though you are in a heavily relaxed state and in some cases, patients will not remember their procedure. One of the best things about IV sedation is the fact that it makes your appointment seem much faster. This will allow you to have multiple procedures completed in just one sitting. IV sedation also allows us to monitor and adjust your dosage throughout the procedure to ensure for maximum comfort.

If you also struggle with needles, we offer oral sedatives such as Valium to calm your nerves. Under this sedative, you will be able to remain awake and aware of what’s happening around you. This method is used for patients with light to moderate anxiety. This form of sedation is very cost-effective and offers great results. You will be relaxed and calm during your procedures at Northland Dental Medicine.

Next time you come into Northland Dental Medicine for an appointment with Dr. Michael Corsello, make sure to ask about sedation and how it can help you through your dental procedures.

Snap Tite Mini

Pittsburgh, PA implant dentist Dr. Michael Corsello provides many options for replacing missing teeth, including dental implants. Dental implants require installing a titanium metal post into the jawbone of the missing tooth, where it heals around the post, holding it firmly in position. SnapTite Mini dental implants are smaller, needing less bone and providing a faster treatment process for patients choosing these implants.
The benefits to receiving SnapTite Mini implants, include the following:
  • The titanium posts are much smaller, and therefore requires less recovery time.
  • They are less expensive than conventional implants.
  • The treatment process is less complicated or time consuming than traditional implants.
  • They are installed in a single office visit.
  • Less bone retention in the jaw is needed for SnapTite mini implants.
While traditional dental implants take 3-6 months for the treatment, SnapTite Mini implants are accomplished in a single visit. They are about half the size, so they don’t need as much bone or as much healing time to complete and put an abutment on top of the post

If you are ready to replace one or multiple missing teeth with SnapTite Mini’s, contact our dental office in Pittsburgh, PA to get started.

SnapTite SR

SnapTite SR implants are a type of screw-retained dentures that provide more stability for people with missing teeth. Traditional dentures can be made of high quality, but our patients still have the risk of them shifting while they are talking or eating. Removable dentures always have this risk, but screw-retained hybrid dentures, such as the SnapTite SR we provide here at our Pittsburgh, PA dental implant office, have more stability to prevent shifting of teeth.

Some features of the SnapTite SR dentures, which are a non-removable rigid fixation appliance, include
  • being retained by the same titanium screws used in dental implants.
  • using just four implants to put them in place.
  • having the ability to be removed here in our office for maintenance and professional cleaning.
  • being made of strong and durable materials, including composite resin or ceramic. This makes them look and feel like real teeth that don’t shift or become embarrassing for our patients.
Our office uses advanced technology to create the SnapTite SR dentures for better quality and convenience. CAM/CAD technology helps us make the dentures with a high amount of accuracy and in less time.

Call Dr. Michael Corsello at 412-847-5002 to make an appointment for SnapTite SR implants.
